Introduction
Blane Bachelor is an award-winning journalist and editor who writes for top global outlets including CNN, National Geographic, Afar, Fodor’s, the New York Post, Robb Report, and New York Magazine. Her main specialties are travel news, aviation, and consumer travel trends, but she especially loves writing about anything quirky and off-the-beaten-path, including haunted history and local legends. Throughout her 25-year career in journalism, Blane has held a variety of roles, including newspaper sportswriter, editor, guidebook author, and dating columnist. Blane was born and raised in Florida and has lived in four countries abroad, including Spain, where she learned to speak Spanish. Her current base is Amsterdam, where she resides with her husband and son.
Selected publications
Books: Contributor to several National Geographic titles, including Great Outdoors U.S.A. and TravelAtlas. Blane also is the sole author of the forthcoming 100 Haunts of a Lifetime, which is scheduled to publish in fall 2027.
Education
Blane graduated cum laude from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism, a program that consistently ranks in the top 10 in the US.
Awards
Blane won a Silver Award from the 33rd Annual North American Travel Journalists Awards Competition for her story, “A culture of commemoration is still thriving in this Dutch town 80 years after its liberation,” which appeared in CNN Travel. She also won an honorable mention for a story on fly fishing from the Georgia Magazine Association in 2004.
