Charlotte Eggleston-Johnstone

Charlotte Eggleston-Johnstone is a travel writer and editor based in one of England’s most beautiful regions: Yorkshire, where she grew up. After spending 14 years in London, many of which spent on the Telegraph’s travel desk, she moved back to Yorkshire to start her freelance business. Since then Charlotte has written features and guides for a number of top newspapers and magazines, and knows all the cool places to hang out in York and Leeds. 

Experience

Charlotte started writing articles for specialist magazines and local and regional newspapers. Her love of travel and hotels soared after an internship with Telegraph Travel’s Hotels team, which led her to a position overseeing all the hotel guides (print and online), and then senior content editor with the production team. Over the past 10 years she has written hundreds of hotel reviews, visiting properties all over the world – from the northern fjords of Iceland to remote Indonesian islands – as well as numerous articles and guides for publications including The Times, The Independent, The Observer, The i Paper, The Daily Mail and Good Housekeeping. She is currently Telegraph Travel’s official destination expert for York and Leeds, having recently written comprehensive guides to both cities. She takes every opportunity she can to explore them – there’s always something new to see.

Education

Charlotte has a BA in English Language and Communication from King’s College London, an NCTJ-accredited diploma in Journalism, and a Masters-level post-graduate qualification in Digital Marketing Strategy and Analytics from the London School of Economics.
