Introduction

Kim Foley MacKinnon is an award-winning Boston-based journalist, author and photographer. While she travels the world to cover travel and food, she has a deep knowledge and love of New England.

Experience

Getting her start at the Boston Globe newspaper while a student at the University of Massachusetts, Boston, gave Kim a solid foundation in the craft of journalism. Covering everything from local news to profiles, she found her love of travel writing after her first travel piece appeared in the newspaper. From there, she went on to become a guidebook editor, author and travel writer. For the past 25 years, she has contributed to Forbes, Travel + Leisure, AAA, Time Out, Fodor’s, BBC, U.S. News & World Report, Cruise Critic, Food Network, among others.

Education

Kim has a BA in English from University of Massachusetts, Boston.

She is a member of the Society of American Travel Writers and is a former president of the organization.

Kim has won two Lowell Thomas travel journalism awards.
