Introduction

Laura Hall is an award-winning writer and journalist based in Copenhagen. Originally from Manchester, UK, she covers Scandinavia, the Nordics and the Arctic from a cultural and travel perspective. She is a contributor to all the major broadsheet newspapers in the UK, along with the BBC. She also writes for multiple outlets around the world, from airline magazines in Hong Kong to travel magazines including Conde Nast Traveler and Afar in the USA.

Experience

Laura's background is in travel publishing as a travel guide author and editor, and she has broad experience across the travel sector, as a former founding director of family travel firm Kid & Coe and the former content lead of a national tourist board.

When she is not writing, Laura is most likely to be found swimming somewhere in the cold seas of Scandinavia.

Education

Laura holds a BA in English Language and Literature from Oxford University and a post-graduate certificate in Periodicals Journalism from the London College of Printing. She is studying for an MFA in Creative Writing at Manchester Metropolitan University.

She sits on the jury for the annual CIFFT Tourism Press Award and is regularly called on to comment about the travel industry. She writes prize-winning fiction and was the runner up of the Tom Grass Spirit of Adventure Literary Prize in 2025.
