Paradise Regained

Paradise Regained

One of the most singular experiences a traveler can dream of, a private island getaway epitomizes luxury travel. Peter Island Resort, in the British Virgin Islands, presents the rare opportunity to make that dream a reality. Reopened following a near seven-year closure after Hurricane Irma in 2017, Peter Island Resort has re-emerged with flawless duality: brilliantly reimagined and still utterly true to its original DNA.

In its new form, created to seamlessly blend with its lush surroundings, all guest accommodations save for two villas have been relocated to Deadman’s Beach – the most popular of the island’s five beaches for its staggering beauty and seclusion – joining the main lodge, pool, and The Drake Steakhouse to create a pristine oceanfront sanctuary. Expanded trail systems weave the private island’s grounds with scavenger hunt-esque surprise elements along the way, discoverable whether traversing to an ultra-private, reserved beach experience or hiking the sunset loop for extraordinary views accompanied by signature beverages and canapés. The resort’s exquisite 10,000-square-foot spa has also been refreshed, a dreamlike destination for self-care, where a pedicure is accompanied by salt-tinged air and stunning ocean vistas.

Long a prime destination for local vessels, Peter Island Resort’s yacht club is also sporting a major refresh. The new club will lure boaters to its pool with cabanas, a retail outlet, pickleball and basketball courts, bocce ball, and Drunken Pelican bar and grill. A new, 3,000-square-foot event space is perfect for elegant special occasions, but the club is equally ideal for a simple stop by for a weekend brunch.
