Introduction

Jennifer D Walker is a British-Hungarian writer originally from the UK. After splitting her childhood between Sussex and Budapest, she also lived in Frankfurt am Main, Madrid, and Tbilisi before moving to Budapest in 2013. She specialises in Central Europe, mostly covering Budapest and Vienna. She’s passionate about hidden places, quirky museums, and exploring places in depth. 

Experience

Jennifer has an unorthodox background in travel writing, having started her professional career as a nuclear physicist and obtained a PhD in physics from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid before changing careers to pursue writing. 

Her work has been published in CNN Travel, Lonely Planet, BBC Travel, Condé Nast Traveler, National Geographic Travel, The Guardian, The Times, The Independent, EasyJet Traveler, and Forbes, among others. She is also the author of the Vienna and Budapest chapters for the guidebook Moon Prague, Vienna, & Budapest and has contributed to Lonely Planet publications such as Secret City, Global Coffee Tour, Global Distillery Tour, and Around the World in 80 Food Trucks.

Education

Jennifer has an MPhys in Physics with Satellite Technology from the University of Surrey, a Master's in Nuclear Physics from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, and a PhD in Physics from the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid.
