Introduction
Lee Marshall writes about travel, cinema and interiors for a range of international publications. The bulk of his travel writing centres on Italy, his home since 1984. Born in Bristol, he holds dual Italian and UK citizenship.
Experience
Lee moved to Rome on a whim in September 1984 with his partner, straight out of university. They have lived in Italy ever since, moving from Rome to a small town in Umbria in 2008. He became a full-time freelance writer and journalist in 1993, specialising initially in culture but soon focusing on his two core passions: travel and cinema.
Publications
Marshall's travel articles have appeared in Condé Nast Traveller, Travel and Leisure, Departures, The Telegraph, Time Out, Qantas Magazine, The Guardian, The New York Times and many others. He writes film reviews for Screen International, mostly from festivals. He has also been a regular contributor to World of Interiors for more than two decades.
Awards
Marshall was awarded the Premio Sicilia Terra Mediterranean in 2013 for his writing on Sicily in Departures magazine. He has served as a jury member at film festivals in Edinburgh, Bratislava and Salina.
