Ocean Malandra

Ocean Malandra is a widely published journalist, author, and travel writer from San Francisco, California. Now based part-time in Bogota, Colombia he travels extensively in Latin America covering sustainable food and travel as well as producing investigative solutions-based environmental journalism.

Experience

Ocean has been published in more than 30 different magazines and media outlets including Vice, Conde Nast, Lonely Planet, Mongabay, The Earth Island Journal, USA Today Travel, and Paste Magazine, where he wrote the environmental column EarthRx. 

He is the current author of the Colombia series of guidebooks for Moon Travel Guides.

Education

Ocean studied communications at City College of San Francisco before earning a BA in English at Portland State University. He has professional certificates in Sustainable Tourism from the University of Copenhagen and Writing for Social Justice from UC Berkeley.
